The decision in brief

Separate an electric account request from construction, relocation or service-upgrade work. Use Pepco's current construction/remodeling entry point and obtain project-specific requirements.

Washington, DC investor planning. Agency requirements are distinct from our analytical methods; no property-specific approval, market quote or professional sign-off is represented.

Work through this decision

  1. Have the electrical team define proposed load and service changes.
  2. Confirm design, conduit, excavation and utility work responsibilities.
  3. Track inspection, meter and energization dependencies.

Evidence to collect

EvidenceHow to use it
Utility correspondence retain current project instructions.
Scope distinguish contractor from utility work.
Milestones separate application, acceptance and active service.

The mistake to catch before committing

A portal submission is not confirmation of capacity or an energization date. Do not make permanent power the unpriced final assumption in an otherwise detailed renovation schedule.

Keep an application, an issued permit and a passed inspection separate

An application number proves a filing exists; it does not prove authorization to start. An issued permit authorizes its stated scope subject to conditions. A passed inspection addresses the inspected work, not every title, zoning, occupancy or tenant issue on the property. Keep these records as separate evidence.

Reconcile the permit description, stamped plans, current contractor, revisions and inspection history. A changed structural, system or use plan may require additional review. An expeditor can manage submissions but cannot replace the responsible designer or the agency decision. Use the DOB records portal to resolve contradictions rather than treating a listing description as the approval history.
